What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is not braces. How does it work?
The mouthpiece, called an ‘aligner’ is designed to fit tightly over your teeth, precisely applying pressure in the directions required for teeth to move. Over time, as your teeth begin to shift, a new aligner is required to continue moving teeth towards their desired final position. Because of computer aided technology behind the treatment, there is no need to have follow up appointments for new impressions, as the entire sequence of Invisalign aligners are designed and manufactured all at once, to ensure teeth follow the designated course for closing gaps and re-aligning rotated teeth.
Will people notice I am wearing Invisalign?
Probably only if you bring it to their attention. What they will notice is your teeth transforming into a straighter, aligned, gap-free smile. In some cases, to aid the movement of teeth, a small, indistinguishable button of tooth coloured material may be temporarily bonded to specific surfaces of the tooth. These buttons are non-invasive and barely noticeable, and allow the mouthpieces to apply the correct pressure to your teeth.
